Christ Icons Art First Post
Welcome to the Christ Icons Art blog. This blog displays original portraits of Christ by Shawn Alyea. It explores how each painting expresses Christ. Occasional reflections on walking with Christ will also be offered.
We are building an Etsy store called Christ Icons. It should be active very soon.
My wife and I hope you will visit this blog and the Christ Icons Etsy site often.
My only objective is to
paint a Christ so moving that those
who see him will be converted. Georges Rouault
who see him will be converted. Georges Rouault
I've adopted this quote from the 21st century painter as my own
motivation for painting.
The seed for a painting ministry began in 2007 after I experienced an
angelic visit. One of the outcomes of the visitation was a strong desire to
portray the presence of God through art, something I had no experience or
interest in before the visit.
I've discovered in the process of painting a sort of
intercession occurs for those who will view the works. Christ comes through the canvas and paint to us. There is a sense of intimacy, of oneness that occurs as his image emerges. Adoration, worship and thankfulness
overflow. At times I experience loneliness, a longing to be with him, his hand guiding my brush strokes, deep groaning, and an internal itch (I don't know how else to explain it) in the creation of the work.
Each painting is saturated with prayer that God's
presence will pour through them to you.
My wife and I thank you for your interest. Expect his presence!
Shawn and Karin Alyea
